What makes a great leader?
Updated: Jul 25, 2018
How do you treat YOUR staff & colleagues?
An email to a colleague read: "Hope you're feeling better! Rest up, your team needs you next week because we are going to be busier than ever. Let me know if you need anything."
"I'm concerned about your commitment to this project" said another on the phone to a friend who was recovering at home.
Someone is off sick for a couple of days under doctor's orders. At which point do we prioritse human health over our own agenda & not make someone feel guilty or question their honesty?
This behaviour only adds extra pressure & makes people worry "What if I'm still not better in a few days?" "What if I'm not well next week?" "What if I get sick again?"
An authentic leader would understand that there is not much point in having a colleague at work who is operating at below 100%, physically or mentally.
It's actual human decency (and more productive) to help people feel 100% at all times. Don't believe me?
Empathy + EQ = Solid foundation.
